Batman Could Help the People of Colorado
Aurora Colorado
Movies Bring in So Much Money
The final Batman movie may bring in billions of dollars in movie ticket sales. The victims of the movie shooting in Aurora, Colorado will suffer forever. It would seem incumbant on our society to help one another get through this, not just for today, but far into the future.
The Victims of the Colorado Movie Massacre
Recuperation Takes a Long Time
The Aftermath of Having To Go On
Everyone who experienced that event, even those in the adjoining movie theatre has some psychological affect from it. The relatives and friends of the victims are affected too. Loved ones grieve for the people they lost. Loved ones must figure out how to readjust their lives as they painstakingly care for those that need to recuperate. Long after this fades into the memories of us all, these people will be dealing with the aftermath of having to go on.
What Would it Cost Warner Bros
Perhaps, Warner Brothers and Batman movie director, Christopher Nolan will think about the people of Aurora and give a portion of their profits to help these people, whose lives are forever changed.
What would it hurt them to provide a lifetime of monetary support to the people who will never walk again?
What would it hurt to help provide a better quality of life for these victims ?
What would it hurt to set up one or several foundations in the names of those who lost their life that night?
What would it hurt to use some of the proceeds towards helping people with mental illnesses, so that perhaps, the next person who might do such a heinous thing has sought help and this is all averted?
Warner Bros - a Selfish Interest or a Selfless Act
Altruism is the selfless act of helping another. It is motivated by the desire to help someone else.
Watching the news about the Batman movie massacre, and other similar events causes us to experience personal distress, and brings up anxiety and fear.
We also feel sympathy and compassion for the people who must endure these type of events. This leads to altruistic acts to help people.
Should Warner Bros. donate some of their profits, it would show they feel connected to other people, not just in an attempt to get us to pay to see their movie, as in a selfish interest, but connected to people in a time of need and thereby showing a selfless act.
Evolutionary thinking suggestions that some form of helping people who are close to us, is natural for the survival of our genes. But society as a whole, has an obligation to help people, even if we don’t know them personally.
We Can Only Ask and Hope They Will Be a Shining Example
Sometimes people help others for perceived rewards.
Sometimes the rewards are emotional.
Sometimes they are for fame and glory.
Sometimes people help others to relieve their own distress at watching the victims suffer.
Empathy also motivates us to alleviate another person’s suffering.
We can’t know if Warner Bros., Christopher Nolan, and the cast and crew of Batman would feel compelled enough to donate some of the profits from the movie.
We can only ask, and hope that they will be a shining example to humanity.
